I’ve been kind of neglecting the website as of late, mostly due to work overload. I decided today to throw up some art/sketches/stuff I’d been working on that has cross my desk in recent weeks. Below you’ll see pencils and inks of a panel for a project that will remain nameless for now. The pencils [...]

Another poster design by yours truly. Not sure how much I can say about it. It was fully realized in photoshop. I think I fought with the actual painting of the two Elvis’s at first until I went back to basics and took a peek at Henning Ludvigsen’s tutorials. I’m not in his league but [...]
Circumference of a Squirrel
by Matthew Childers on December 2, 2010 in featured
One of the best titles for a play or a poster. And a mighty fine execution if I do say so myself. While the client decided to go in a different direction for this particular piece I was quite proud of it nonetheless. It was actually done a couple months ago so I can’t remember [...]
Poe
by Matthew Childers on November 23, 2010 in featured
Just finished up the artwork for a poster design. The subject was of course Edgar Allan Poe. I had been dying to try out this particular style and in doing so learned alot of techniques I WILL be using in the future. This one was all digital. I actually attempted this traditionally but it just [...]
Xanadu
by Matthew Childers on November 17, 2010 in featured
By the end of the year i should have a whole set of fun, full color, widely different stylistic illustrations for the enjoyment of all. This is one of those. This is kind of the ‘director’s cut’ version of this illustration as the finished illustration is slightly different. But this is the original version I [...]

So I totally didn’t realize that my contact page wasn’t working right. It’s been fixed. You’ll find a way to email me or find me on facebook or deviantart.
Seductive Woman Poster Art
by Matthew Childers on October 27, 2010 in featured
Eventually I’ll show the finished piece for this but for now this is a digital painting I did over the weekend. It’s a mixture of photoshop digital painting and a piece of vector art (the typewriter). It was my first real attempt at true digital painting. I was unsure whether to try to paint it [...]
Civil War Voices Poster Illustration
by Matthew Childers on October 14, 2010 in featured
Recently I was asked to help design a few posters and one of them was for a play called Civil War Voices. The story is told from the perspective of a freed Civil War slave so I wanted to use that as a starting point. I was actually attempting to put together a sketch concept [...]
Star Wars Digital Painting
by Matthew Childers on September 29, 2010 in Comics
Everyone knows I am a big fan of Star Wars and I was keen on trying out my new Wacom Cintiq. This was the first painting I did using my precious Wacom. I don’t know where the idea came from but I really thought it would be funny to do a C-3PO holding a lightsaber. [...]
What an unused cover looks like.
by Matthew Childers on September 29, 2010 in featured
Well I guess this is the first post of a new and improved website. My hope is that I can update this fairly regularly with sketches and new work and from time to time give you a taste of how I go about putting together my illustrations. The first piece in my arsenal is an [...]
