AquaMan

Okay. For some reason I got an itch to add some testosterone to the page and do an actual existing character piece. Why I chose Aquaman I don’t know.. I think it’s because I would seriously kill to do an Aquaman book. There is soooo much potential in this character that hasn’t been tapped into. I know most people think he’s kinda lame but the very very few times he’s been done well (The Butch Guice Aquaman was pretty awesome)… well.. when he’s done well he’s awesome.

Anyway I kinda wanted to play up the underwater feel.. using alot of cool colors which work well with the classic aquaman costume with the orange which constrast the cool blues and greens so well. Plus his blonde hair which I used as a focal point is really badass when it’s given that flowy underwater look. To keep from making him look too much like the Superfriends goofy version I decided to go with a bearded aquaman… which ties much closer to the whole Arthurian legends aspect of Aquaman. This piece was penciled and digitally inked. I really kind fought with his face…still not completely happy with everything about it but overall it turned out pretty nice. Any ideas for another character I could do?? I’m taking ideas…

Eternal Warriors (A Frank Frazetta Tribute)

I actually saw an article in imagineFX magazine about a Frank Frazetta tribute and it totally inspired me to do this piece. The fun part about this was that the entire piece is all pencils. I never inked it but after giving it some work in photoshop i made it look pretty close to what an inked piece would look like. And then when i went to color it went to a whole other level.

Pencil on Bristol >> Photoshop color >> 11×17
